You are struggling to cope with addictive behaviors in your life.
Your addiction consumes all your time, attention and money. It has become the only way you know how to manage your emotions, fill the void and function through your roles and responsibilities. But it is no longer helping and instead, is creating chaos in your relationships that matters most, and you don’t want to get to a point where you will lose it all.
Your addiction has changed the relationship you have with yourself and others. The lies and isolation has damaged your life. Maybe you don’t feel like you know who you are anymore or you feel ashamed and embarrassed for the wrong choices you have made. Maybe you have neglected to your hobbies, interests and self-care activities.
It has been going on for a while and you are afraid you’re never going to get control.
A Lot of the time you feel defeated and you’re not sure what your next steps are. Sometimes it seems like you’re broken and you know if you don’t address it. It can only get worse.
Whether you have tried to get sober many times or this is your first attempt in recovery, you are capable of breaking free from your addiction. Your past treatment attempts are not a failure just because you relapsed. Each time you seek recovery, you discover another piece of information. In every relapse, there is a lesson to be learned. As you put the pieces together, you will build a strong and stable foundation for a long-lasting recovery. There is no need to compare your journey to anyone else’s. Recovery can look different for everyone.
In therapy, you want to learn how to overcome your addiction. You want to learn to cope with the underlying emotional pain that keeps taking you back to your addiction.

The Addiction Recovery Therapy Process
We will work together to understand the progression of your addiction as well as the underlying unresolved issues or untreated symptoms. Typically addiction is an attempt to solve a deeper problem. You will repair and strengthen the foundational issues so that your recovery is on solid ground.
We will also work on the relationship you have with yourself and others. This means learning to love yourself for who you are and where you are in life. In your recovery, you will learn to seek validation internally instead of looking externally. This will give you a true sense of trust in yourself and live an authentic life.
Addiction and relationship issues go hand in hand. Whichever came first, you will learn to have relationships with others that is safe, predictable and reliable. In recovery, you will learn to break free from codependency by engaging in healthier boundaries and dealing with conflict assertively.
Here’s what to expect:
The therapy process starts with a Free 20-minute consultation. You will have the opportunity to elaborate on your current experiences that you wish to address in therapy. You will also learn more about my approach to treating addiction and cost.
During the first 2 to 3 sessions, we will have the intake process where we gather all the information we need to create a strong and accurate plan for you. After the first session, you will fill out a few forms to better evaluate the severity of your presenting problems. The comprehensive intake evaluation will help us identify the specific triggers and get a clear picture of your addiction, as well as identify other components that may influence the treatment outcome. This process is necessary to create an individualized treatment plan that will be successful in helping you overcome your addiction.
On-going sessions are designed to redefine your life in recovery. The goal of therapy is not to remove or cure addiction but to give you the tools and insight that will help you live a fulfilling life in recovery. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), which are both evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders. Each of these modalities has unique qualities and focus while complimentary for an effective outcome.
The fundamental principle of CBT proposes that our thoughts affect our emotions, which affect our behaviors. You will learn to uncover underlying thoughts, attitudes and belief systems you may have that are unhealthy, negative or rigid. Once we identify these unhealthy thought patterns our goal is to find ways to challenge and reframe them. We will also explore behavioral changes to support your new way of thinking and at times use these action goals to challenge your thoughts.
The focus of MI is to resolve the ambivalent feelings you may have about recovery and build an internal motivation to make the changes you need to make. By removing barriers to your goals, you will have the clarity and motivation to make the necessary changes and move towards your ideal life. The goal of MI is to give you a sense of strength and confidence to reach for your goals and let go off any doubt, angry or ambivalence.
While you will never stop being in recovery, after some time and significant improvement, you and I will review your treatment process and discuss ending therapy. We will create a termination plan to ensure that you have a solid idea on how to maintain your new behaviors and changes and have a strong support system to rely on.

Who Benefits Most from Therapy for Addiction Recovery
Therapy for your addiction recovery is the right fit for you if you want to stop using and learn to live your truest and fullest potential. You want to live a life free from guilt and shame from past mistakes.
Recovery is more than just stopping the addictive behavior. It’s about creating a new chapter in your life. It’s about changing behaviors, situations and relationships that have enabled your addictive behavior. If the necessary changes are not made, you will find yourself back in your old habits.
In therapy we will explore together the parts of your life that have to change in order to increase the chances of your recovery being successful. It does not mean everything has to change; but you will have to be honest and accountable about risk factors.
You will benefit from treatment for addiction if you have experienced:
- Difficulty and/or inability to stop the use or behavior.
- Loss of control over the amount and frequency of use or behavior
- Craving and compulsive using.
- Continued use in the face of adverse consequences, such as conflict with loved ones, loss of job, health problems and/or legal complications.
What does Therapy for Addiction Recovery cost?
Therapy for the treatment of addiction recovery is a fee for service program, and I accept all major forms of payment. Please visit the Payment and Insurance tab under Getting Started for my session fees.
Due to my desire to make sure you maintain maximum privacy and wanting to provide you with the highest level of care possible without constraints from managed care, I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance panels; therefore, I am not affiliated with any insurance panel. Many PPO plans may reimburse in full or in part for my services. Unfortunately, HMO, Medi-Cal, and Medicare insurances do not reimburse as they require that you see someone on their panel.
