Intensive OCD Track

Are you tired of feeling imprisoned by intrusive thoughts or being weighed down by compulsive behaviors? Are you looking for an intensive program to treat your OCD?

We offer our Intensive OCD track to meet the needs of those who have never worked with an OCD therapist before or are looking for additional support from a standard weekly session. We are the bridge between one weekly session and an IOP program. Our program is designed for individuals who are ready to commit to intensive therapy sessions while having the flexibility to continue working or going to school.

Ultimately, our program aims to empower you to break away from the vicious cycle of OCD and live your life filled with meaning, joy, and authenticity.

What is an Intensive Track for OCD?

The OCD Intensive Track is a great option for those looking for more frequent and focused treatment for OCD and Related disorders.  It is designed to address your individual clinical needs in a short amount of time. The goal is to equip you with as many tools and techniques as possible so you can effectively manage your OCD and see significant improvement in your life. Not only does the Intensive Track require an increase in weekly sessions, but it also includes in-office psychoeducation and skills building in addition to a heavy emphasis on accelerated Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) treatment both in and out of the office.

Who Can Benefit from an OCD Intensive Treatment?

Designed for individuals who are ready to commit to intensive therapy sessions and embrace the challenge of confronting their fears head-on, our program empowers you to break away from the vicious cycle of OCD and get back into the driver’s seat:
This program is the right fit for you if:
  • You are visiting outside of the California area where there isn’t access to OCD specialists and want to make the best of your time in California.
  • Symptoms that have been unresponsive to the Traditional treatment frequency, e.g., once a week.
  • Work or school schedule that does not allow for Ongoing weekly meetings.
  • People new to treatment want to “jump start” their recovery
  • Wanting to schedule treatment to coincide with work or school holidays.
  • Needing dedicated and extended hours focused on ERP skills with a specialist.

How Does the Intensive OCD Track Work?

Pre-Treatment Assessment:

Prior to starting on this journey, we believe in the importance of conducting a comprehensive pre-treatment assessment to ensure that our program will be a good fit for your specific needs and goals. Our assessment begins with you completing the Y-BOCS II self-assessment.

From there, we schedule a 30-minute assessment call with an experienced clinician specializing in OCD treatment. We’ll take the time to understand your unique symptom profile, treatment history, and any co-occurring conditions that may impact your OCD.

The goals of the Pre-Treatment assessment are three-fold:
  1. To make an accurate diagnosis.
  2. To explain the Intensive track processes and procedures.
  3. To discern whether or not the individual being assessed is an appropriate candidate for participation in the Intensive Track at Embracing You Therapy.

Please note that having an assessment does not guarantee admission to our intensive track. The Pre-treatment assessment allows us to ascertain if there is any reason that we believe a prospective client would not be a good fit for participation in our intensive track. We reserve the right to restrict and limit participation in all therapy services that we offer.

What to Expect From The OCD Intensive Track

Intensive OCD Track is a program designed to address your individual clinical needs in a short amount of time. The goal is to equip you with as many tools and techniques as possible so you can effectively manage your anxiety and OCD when you are ready to step down to once-a-week sessions and return to your work or school.
While we will work collaboratively to create a plan that meets your needs, there are four phases of our Intensive program that all participants can anticipate. Let’s share more about each of these:

Phase 1: Psychoeducation:
This initial phase will be the focus of our first 2-4 sessions as we will walk you through research on what OCD is, what the cycle looks like, the studies that show how the brain of a person with OCD tends to be active in areas that result in the OCD symptoms as well as looking at the role of learning psychology and classical conditioning that shaped your OCD patterns. In this phase of treatment, we also work with you on identifying your values so that we have a strong foundation for your motivation and willingness to challenge your OCD.
Phase 2: Introduction & Implementation of CBT, ERP, ACT Tools:
The second phase of your treatment will mainly focus on implementing ERP, CBT, and ACT interventions to start taking control of your life, where you are back in the driver’s seat and regain control, strength, and independence.
Phase 3: Additional support – family/significant others/group therapy:
As you gain momentum and start to live your life more meaningfully and confidently, we spent time inviting family members or significant others into treatment so that all you have learned and practiced in the program is transitioning to your life outside of therapy. This will involve sharing resources with your support network as well as having them join our sessions, where we create action plans that everybody has agreed to. We know family accommodation is a key part of what keeps OCD strong and alive; therefore, teaching your support network ways to support you, and not your OCD, will support the maintenance phase of your OCD recovery.
Phase 4: Termination:
You might be surprised to hear that the ending of our track is just as important as the beginning because a strong aftercare plan will ensure you and us that we are creating a solid long-term plan for you to implement and utilize your newly learned skills efficiently and effectively. Whether you step down to once-a-week sessions with us or terminate therapy so as to resume college or work responsibilities, we want to ensure you have your toolbox ready to take with you.

There Are a Few Different Options For Scheduling Your Intensive OCD Treatment and it May Look Like This:

  • An intensive weeklong session where you meet with your therapist three to four times a week that lasts 50 minutes or two to three sessions that last 75- minutes.
  • Intensive Weekend sessions that last Friday afternoon through Sunday, lasting a total of 6 hrs. Please be advised that this option requires a history of treatment and can only be used in between ongoing therapy.
  • Custom (flexible treatment length)

Our Treatment Modalities For OCD Intensive:

We offer a multifaceted approach to treatment, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Central to our program are Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Alongside these core therapies, we may also integrate mindfulness practices, distress tolerance skills, family therapy, and referrals to group therapy.

Meet Our Program Director of OCD Services:
